Strengthening India-Russia ties in medical education, Tver State Medical University welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of India in the Russian Federation on September 18. The visit brought together representatives from the Embassy, university leadership, and Rus Education to discuss medical education, academic cooperation, and the experience of Indian students studying in Russia. It also provided an opportunity to explore ways to support the academic and social environment for Indian students pursuing their medical education at the university.
The delegation was led by Mr. Vinay Kumar Bathula Venkateshwar, Minister of Education at the Embassy of India. He was accompanied by Sunil Kumar Rathi, Assistant of the Consular Section at the Embassy of India; Syed Kamruzzaman Washim, Chairman of Rus Education; and Chowdhury Md. Mizanur Rahman, Director of the Centre for International Education.
The delegation was welcomed by Alexander Sonis, Rector of Tver State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor and Honoured Healthcare Worker of the Russian Federation. Alexey Artemyev, Acting Rector of Tver State Technical University, also joined the meeting.
Discussions Focused on Medical Education and Student Support
The visit featured a round-table discussion centred on future cooperation in medical education, academic mobility, and the social and cultural adaptation of Indian students.
The discussions explored ways to further improve the learning experience for international students and strengthen academic connections between India and Russia. Participants also discussed the quality of education and opportunities to expand joint academic programmes in the future.
For Indian students studying abroad, adapting to a new academic system and social environment is an important part of the overall experience. The discussion therefore also placed attention on the support systems and opportunities available to students to adjust to university life in Russia.

Following the round-table discussion, the delegation toured the Tver State Medical University campus and explored its educational and training facilities.
